1.(a) Elections

In any country across the world, whether democratic or autocratic, elections form an integral part of the lives of its citizens. In democracies, elections are important because governments are voted in and out of power through elections. In autocracies and dictatorships, there is no election, and people live under the rule and authority of a single person or a group. Over the years, the definitions and meanings of elections have changed. Elections are not the same as they were before. Now-a-days, elections are held in ways that reduce or minimize chances of rigging or any form of influencing irrespective of the fact whether they use electronic voting machines or ballot papers. An election stands for the will of the people of a country and the only way through which they can express their desires. It is the only way’ they can favor people who can change their lives.

(b) “Child is the father of man

Child is a part of a poem written by William Child is the Father of Man Wordsworth. He wrote it with regard to the experiences of the three stages of development in a man’s life-childhood, youth, and old age. It was Wordsworth’s observation that what we experience as children makes us the people we are when we are older.

Childhood is the most critical and important part in a person’s development. The Jesuits used to believe that the first seven years of a person’s life are his most absorbing years. If the right seeds are sown in these seven years the harvest would be predetermined. By the time a child reaches the age of seven, his character is largely set and he begins to show glimpses of the man he is going to be. (C). Impact of Covid-19 on Society

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India has raised awareness about the recent outbreak and has taken necessary actions to control the spread of COVID-19. The central and state governments are taking several measures and formulating several wartime protocols to achieve this goal. Moreover, the Indian government implemented a 55-days lockdown throughout the country that started on March 25th, 2020, to reduce the transmission of the virus. This outbreak is inextricably linked to the economy of the nation, as it has dramatically impeded industrial sectors because people worldwide are currently cautions about engaging in business in the affected regions.

(d).Importance of Sports

Sports are an important means of recreation. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is a well-known proverb. After their studies during the day, students require some rest and recreation in the evening, other persons also want to participate in sports after finishing thir days’s work. Sports are most suitable for them to refresh and regain their lost energy and also for their good health.

The physical activity is most useful for digestion which may be maintained through games and sports. It refreshes the mind, improves digestion, fills the lungs with pure air (oxygen) and make the people more active and healthy.

There are certain other advantages, as well. Good sportsman are popular in society and are able to earn name and fame and are respected wherever they go, meeting new people and seeing new sights. It is, therefore, clear that games and sports have a great value in life, but it should be played in the spirit of the game and nobility of games and sports should not be lost.

(e). A Picnic Party

There is a beautiful canal outside our town. Last Sunday, my friends and I decided to go there for a picnic party. We bought some fruits and sweets. We reached the canal and camped under a tree on its bank. There was a small tea shop nearby. One of us went there and brought tea. We took tea with fruits and sweets. After this we played a game of cards. Mohan entertained us by singing songs. Many groups of men, women and children has come to the canal. The children played hide and seek. Their parents found it hard to keep them away from water. Everybody was in a holiday mood. We took our way back home in the evening. It was a lovely picnic party.

2. (a) These lines have been taken from ‘Ideas that Have Helped Mankind’ which is written by Bertrand Russell. He says that our intellect and moral qualities make more knowledgeable than animals, and it is now clear that we know more than animals do. It can be considered one of our advantages, but there is a little doubt whether it is in fact an advantage.

(b) The given line has been taken from the sesson “A Pinch of snuff which has been successfully written by Manohar Malgaonkar. It is so comic and adventurous story. (d) The given line has been taken from the lesson “The Artist” which has been written by Shiga Naoya. In the story this line is used by seibei’s father to Seibei in which he says that you are doing so a dirty piece of work as srting on Gourds which is so hateful and It has no future.

 

3 (a).These lines have been taken from the poem “Song of Myself” which has been so beautifully written by Walt Whitman. This poem deals with the secret of life.

Through these lines the poet says that the things which he is talking of is universally truth and fact which should be adopted by everybody. because we all are made of same blood. We should not harm anyone.

(b) In these lines of the poem ‘Now the leaves are falling fast’ the poet W.H. Auden is optimistic and impresses upon us to be bold enough to face the old age, frustration in love and loneliness. The sight of the lovely heads of the ranger of the mountain and its clean cold waterfalls though impossible and far away will bless the travellers in the last phase of their journey.

(c) These lines have been taken from our poem “The Soldier” which has been written by Rupert Brooke, who was himself a soldier of his country England.

Through these line the poet is expressing his heartly desire that my country is so great of which I. am grateful, if I die in a foreign field, I should be buried there I world accept that the piece of land where I have been buried is England.

(d) This is an extract from the poem ‘My Grandmother’s House’, written by Kamala Das. The speaker says in the given line that as her grandmother is no more, her house is now very far from where she received lots of love from her grandmother.
